Let me start this post by saying, this is WAY overdue but I had to blog about it because it was so much FUN!
For all you skeptics out there who think segways are weird and dorky, think again! I too had a similar perception of segways but when the opportunity was given to me to take a segway tour of Richmond with the Richmond Camera Club, I thought…well… why not? I am so glad I did!
We got to the Richmond Segway Tour site and after signing a waiver we started the training… helmets on and lets go! I was hesitant to start because honestly, I’m kind of a scardy cat and usually take lot of precautions in situations when I can get hurt, and lets be real, a segway looks like a slower, standing motorcycle. In any case, I hopped on, completed training and realized it is a lot easier than it looks! I had perfected the turns and even the bump course but was still a little shaky on the ramps. After a few gos the tour guys let us hit the streets.
I was grateful that they stayed with us the whole time because it made me feel safer knowing that an expert was there. So we hit the streets of downtown Richmond and were taken to the prettiest places that I would never have known about otherwise. We went to a few overlooks and parks such as Libbie Hill Park. Richmond has the coolest little nooks and crannies that are beautiful!
I had the best time and by the end of the day was wishing that I could take the segway with me to drive around, you know, like to Carytown for some Sweet Frog. Needless to say, I loved it! Here are some of my faves from the day!
