Every time I know I have a session with Brandy and her family, I know it is going to be good. I’m officially naming her the Queen of props! And seriously… all hail the Queen because these are stunning with the greatest props! Brandy signed up for Milestones sessions over the summer and mentioned that we would definitely do holiday card images and senior portraits for her daughter Taylor (check them out here!). It was at Taylor’s session that she mentioned the idea of doing images of Carryn since she was turning 10!
Carryn and her cousin Emily are the same age and are best friends. Their houses back up to each other and the girls love to walk through the field to play. When I got to their house Brandy mentioned that she wanted to include Emily in the session so we could get some images of both girls turning 10 and I loved the idea! Especially since she had matching outfits for the girls! The girls looked gorgeous and as we headed outside to their back field, the light hit the tall grass perfectly. The light was peaking through the trees and just settling over the land with this glow that almost looked as though it sparkled.
We set up the table and chairs and then Brandy brought out the cake (eek!) oh, and the cake stand! Like I said all hail the Queen! She is so creative and such a wonderful Mom for going above and beyond for her children to make them feel special. You could tell that Carryn had been looking forward to this for so long, she rocked every pose, wanted to offer ideas and looked angelic! Then we left the field and headed to the front yard with the horses! It seriously just got better and better! We draped a quilt that has been in their family for generations and was hand stitched over the horse and then of course I could resist getting Carryn to wrap up in it! The icing on the cake though is the last few images of the entire session. Brandy asked me to get some images of Carryn with her blanky since she always has it with her and it’s so special to her. Now don’t judge but I definitely still sleep with my blanky every night so I wanted to get these images right. I’ve said this before about things like binkys, blankys and teddies but I love incorporating them and am so glad when people ask to use them as props or to keep them in pictures. It’s part of who they are at that age or even who they are now and it’s special. When I have kids I’ll want to look back on images and think “oh my gosh they loved that _____ so much! Went everywhere with it!” These images of Carryn with the blanky are some of my favorites of the entire shoot, the sun was just about gone and it was an “oh wait!” moment that I’m so glad nobody forgot about.
Carryn love, you are so precious and so beautiful! I loved spending time with you and Emily! I hope you love these as much as I do!
I LOVE these 🙂
The two images below is officially one of my all time favorite images!
