You’re definitely going to remember this couple because it wasn’t too long ago that I was writing and sharing their maternity session! Well when Amanda signed up for Milestone Sessions and mentioned that she wanted to do newborn images as one of the milestones, I’d be lying if I told you I wasn’t nervous. Really nervous to be honest. You see I tend to get nervous around babies, not to mention I can also be quite boisterous. As a wacky and loud person who loves to play games and run around, children photography is a dream, but with babies, I wasn’t sure this was going to mix well. But I figured, Amanda was due in October and I had plenty of time to prepare.
Well Mr. Cole decided to make his debut just a little early. Not just a little though, six weeks early! Thank God he was already big for his age and was healthy! He spent a little bit of time in the hospital getting bigger and working on feeding and in the mean time I was prepping like a mad woman. Sterling kept saying that I shouldn’t be nervous, it would be great but I think that when you do anything for the first time it’s natural to be nervous. Especially since Amanda and Jamie are friends and I genuinely wanted to do a great job. Not just an okay, first time newborn photography job, but a great job. I wanted to be able to produce the images that she could cherish forever.
Looking back it’s a good thing I was so nervous because to be honest, it made me over prepare. I made sure to get wraps of different variety, a basket, and blankets. I wanted to be able to provide a mix of texture and colors and it worked out really well. The end result was a great session. Honestly I couldn’t be happier. We turned up the temp, got comfy and started shooting right out the gate. Cole was a great sport and even when he wanted to get fussy, which is completely normal, we would just take a little break and chat. It was obvious that he really just loves to be held by Amanda and Jamie. Any time he got fussy, as soon as he was wrapped up in one of their arms he calmed right down, seriously precious. Towards the end we got him nice and “milk drunk” and he went right to sleep which enabled us to get the prop images with the bowtie, football and more. I’ll tell you want, when babies sleep after eating, you can mold them just about anyway you want, it was great!
Cole is the cutest little guy, my favorite images below are the ones where he has this cute little smile. It just makes you wonder what he’s thinking about. Amanda and Jamie, thank you for trusting me and having me capture this moment for you. I absolutely loved my experience with you guys and Cole and am so glad to work with you both were my nerves just melted away and we got some really stunning images. Enjoy!
I kind of love the next two below. 🙂 They are just so cute!
Amanda went to USC and is a Gamecock so we definitely wanted to get these 🙂
