Benaicha Family 2015 Lifestyle Session

This session perfectly demonstrates what I love about Family Photography and more interestingly what I love about Lifestyle sessions. Lile and her husband Rob met me downtown by Belle Isle on the most gorgeous day ever. It was late November and the weather couldn’t be perfect, 50 or 60 degrees, sunny and no wind, simply perfect. The greatest part about their session was that they wanted to utilize the full two hours allotted. You would be surprised how many people don’t use the full two hours that I offer for their session, which is fine but the joy of when families want the full two hours is that they get a much larger variety of images. Plus I’ve mentioned this before but when families use the full time for the session, it evolves from a basic portrait session to a true lifestyle session. I have time to let the kids warm up to me, observe from far away, and then we have time to play, which is my favorite part.

This session was exactly like this. I arrived and was able to put on my 85mm lens to I could get images of the kids from afar, letting them just play together without me interfering. Once they had warmed up we got to play a game by the ringer. The ole ‘who can through the rock in the water the furthest?’. Classic. This got a lot of smiles and then I wasn’t the scary stranger anymore but someone who likes to play fun games. We spent the rest of the time playing and getting some great images, some of which are my favorites for the entire year (make sure to check out the ones on the bridge to Belle Isle… ::swoon::). Lile and Rob’s children are precious, fun loving, straight forward and practical, which I loved.

If you are at all interested in doing a portrait session, with me or honestly, anyone, I highly recommend looking into how much time is offered and taking advantage of it as the Benaicha family did. You won’t be disappointed when you see more candid and lifestyle images of your children that can be captured when the pressure of time is removed.
