Shout out to Ms. Seay and Mrs. Cavedo for finding and using this awesome classroom management tool!
Mrs. Cavedo and Ms. Seay use this application as a way to keep their students on task and set clear expectations. When I came in I noticed that the students were participating in their silent reading time and on the board the teachers had used this screen to set the time left over. This combined with the peaceful music in the background set the stage for success.
When diving in to explore the app myself I noticed that the backgrounds were simple but the features were extensive.
You can choose a different background image or you can have the images change randomly when you open the website each time. You can also upload your own images – an awesome feature for DO NOWs – could be used as a prompt or even a reflective piece… Another feature I LOVE is the Random Student Selector! This feature makes it easy to choose new students to participate.
Something else I noticed and liked was the ability to change the background beyond an image. For instance, you can use graph paper as a background and then draw on the background using the draw feature.

Beyond the background and drawing features, you can also add in QR codes to websites you need to access later. The calculator is great if you have students coming up to the board who may need that resource.
The features I liked the most though were the countdown timers and the voice level expectations. I love that you can set up how much time a student has to work and in a very subtle way it reminds you and the student of your time left. The voice level features are great during an activity as a gentle reminder to students what level they should be on. Check it out below!
Awesome tool! Thank you Ms. Seay & Mrs. Cavedo!
Way to go! I’ve been so impressed with the skillful classroom management I’ve seen at Wilder. The WMS teachers deserve some shine for that!
