Alysa is my grandlittle and for anyone who was in a sorority (or fraternity) reading this, you know what this means, but if you’ve never been in Greek life than you may not understand. In fact, Grammarly just told tried to correct me and when I highlighted over the word it said “Unknown word” haha! Basically, it means she’s in my sorority family and that we spent a lot of time together through college! Lucky for me, our fun continued after college when she moved back to Richmond! We did almost everything together! From setting up classrooms and class materials to sewing, wine tasting, and even being a practice model for me, it was always nice to have Alysa in the same town to hang out with! Fast forward to now and she is married and has a baby! It’s crazy to think about how much we’ve grown since the days back at JMU.
I haven’t had a chance to have Alysa in front of my camera since the days when we were goofing around at Belle Isle and she was my practice model. Or from times when we’d go on outings and she’d put up with me having my camera taking tons of pictures! So naturally, I was really excited when she reached out about mommy and me mini. She met at Libby Hill Park for our mini and despite the intense heat, her family was in it to win it! Her husband, Brett, came prepared to be our entourage which was so helpful to have someone who was willing to carry the bags and watch our stuff. Brett – you win for the day behind the scenes! Alysa looked stunning in a fitted pink and green Lilly Pulitzer dress and Maxwell was one of the best-behaved babies ever! He was ready to lock in on the camera and has the best little smile!
You won’t believe this but actually, this was my first time meeting Maxwell! Let me tell you – this boy is a charmer! He looks exactly like Brett but has so much of Alysa’s smiley personality. Getting to see Alysa in the role of mom was really special for me, you can tell immediately that they have a lot of fun as a family of three.
What I love about the images from this session is how bright and clean they look! I love the pop of pink from her dress and I love the way they make each other smile! There’s a perfect mix between the sweet and the joyful and I love it!
