Have y’all ever met a bug doctor before? Well, I have! It’s true!
I got to this session a few weeks back, stepped toward the car and was introduced to Even, a three-year-old self-proclaimed bug doctor. As you can imagine this naturally sparked my interest because I mean hello – science! After some more inquiring I learned that he performs operations on bugs when they are very sick. – Just the cutest!
The Carter family goes down as the most flexible family I’ve ever worked with! We rescheduled their session not once but twice due to climate and weather. Their original session was scheduled for a Saturday in June. I had decided to stay in Baltimore Friday night and wake up early on Saturday to drive down before their late afternoon session. Mostly because driving 95 on a Friday after work isn’t always the most fun. So Saturday comes and I wake up to a nice sunny day here in Baltimore but soon find out that it’s raining in Richmond. Lindsey soon texts me to let me know and we pro/con the session time as it looked like it might clear up by the afternoon. While I was down for anything I knew in the back of my mind that even if it did clear up it might mean the ground was still damp and so it could affect the diversity of images and posing. We decided to reschedule for another time that summer to make sure we had the most ideal setting.
I’m so glad we ended up with a session that was ideal with weather and time because it makes such a difference! While a good photographer can make any weather situation work if you have the choice to avoid rain and get the best time of day – make that call because you want images that you’ll cherish. We ended up with gorgeous weather – sunny skies and great temperatures for September. The backdrops were starting to show that beautiful fall foliage and the light was dreamy – none of which we would have gotten on a soggy day back in June.
Beyond being flexible and super low key – this family of three is so fun! We spent our whole session playing games like – say the silliest thing ever on the count of three “ONE, TWO, THREE – PURPLE BANANAS!” We picked up sticks, collected leaves and rocks, and even found a very tiny toad! All in a 50ft x 50ft space! I think these images show off just how much fun they have together! I love Even’s little voice as he explains things and how good he is at listening and following directions. I love how much they love to jump in and play together and the sweet way they are so easily comfortable.
Lindsey and Drew – I had so much fun with yall and am so happy that you love these images! Your family is so so sweet and I hope you cherish these moments frozen in time forever!
