Spring Family Session at Manassas Battlefield with the Brannock Family of Four

Getting to see Catherine and Kyle for their family session was a real treat. Who would have thought that it would be in the 90s in Virginia at the end of April!?! Regardless of the heat, they were real troopers and were amazing to work with. They came prepared to Manassas Battlefield with their own cooler of snacks, and water to keep the girls happy and cool. They also were willing to take breaks and go slow to get the best shots. Boy did it pay off!

The girls were definitely shy at first but warmed up really quickly. Soon we were giggling, swinging them into the air and chasing each other around. What I love about these images is how they capture the girls just as they are in this stage. I love the images were you can tell Kinsley is just learning to walk and still has that awkward wobbly stance. I love the way Ava runs to cling to Mom and Dad while smiling so big because she loves being with her family. With fresh spring greenery as the backdrop and the sunbeams bursting through the newly emerged leaves, it feels like the fresh pastel spring we all want after a cold winter.

One thing I tried to do artistically with this session was to step back and try to get different angles. I typically always get a straight on tight shot but for this session I wanted to test myself with angles, creative crops, and pulled back images. Throughout the session I had this in the back of my mind and it really helped! I love the variety of these images and I think they go nicely together to tell a story.
