I just have to say I LOVE this location and the more I shoot here the more I want to shoot everything here. Wide open fields, wildflowers, and very little foot traffic make this an idyllic location for many. It was a beautiful spot to shoot Lindsey and Eli’s maternity session. We met one summer evening and just missed a downpour. Just missed though doesn’t mean we didn’t totally miss some rain. You’d (hopefully) never notice that I individually edited out raindrops from her dress in Photoshop which may have been time-consuming but so worth it for the final product.Read More »
Senior Best Friends Session – Libby Hill Park
Richmond – Virginia
Y’ALL! This past weekend a dream came true in my life! I got to meet (drumroll) THE BABYSITTERS CLUB! All my 90s girls will know EXACTLY why this is so exciting!! Though when I mentioned this to the girls I’m not sure they had heard of it… so, girls – go to the link and watch the movie trailer and you’ll understand. 🙂 So while these girls aren’t actually the babysitters club – they emulate everything fun about that childhood classic! Plus there are 7 of them!Read More »
What I love almost as much as Christina and her sweet family is the colors from this session! What you can’t tell is that we are literally in a parking lot of the park but the trees in this small patch between lots had the most beautiful fall colors. Christina came to the session in this deep blue dress that looked stunning on her. Her little girl Florence was all dolled up in a velvet pink dress but the accent of her flower headband made her curls pop off the background. Some of my favorite images from this session are definitely those of Florence and her Dad. Tommy knows just the way to make Florence laugh and these two giggling together is everything I’d want from a picture of my (one-day future) children and Sterling. They are so precious! The colors are beautiful in these but more so you can feel how much these three (now four!) love each other!Read More »
34. THIRTY FOUR! I had 34 sessions this year and worked with the most AMAZING families! From mommy and me minis, to 1 year cake smashes, all the way to holiday minis this past fall, I was so blessed this past year! I worked with people who are so creative, kind, funny, warm and let me be my full wacky goofy self. It was the best! Read More »
This week is “Best of” week and I’m kicking it off with the sector of my business that meant the most to me this past year. I’ve always loved working with seniors but this year I had the privilege of working with three seniors who were past students of mine when they were 7th graders! While I get to work with amazing families, newborns and people who become friends, getting to work with girls that were students of mine by far tops the charts. Read More »
This session is one of my all time favorites because it is SUPER special to me!! Sarah was one of my students in the 7th grade and now she is a SENIOR!!! Her mom is one of my friends from work and so this session was like a little reunion and is just what I needed. Getting to catch up with them completely filled my bucket!
Getting to see my old students and catch up with them is by far my favorite part about being a teacher. I love it! Which is one of the reasons that moving to Baltimore was so hard for me because I knew I wouldn’t have little run ins with my kids anymore. Getting to catch up with Sarah while also taking her senior portraits has now become the best part of being a photographer so far! It was a combination of two things I love and it was so fun! OH MAH GAWD! So a few weeks ago I woke up early and tried to run some errands around town, you know, pick up dog food, get birthday card for friend, etc. etc. etc. Well the pet store wasn’t open yet so I had some free time on my hands and I decided on a whim that I was going to go down to Belle Isle and walk around. It was about 8am and as soon as I started walking around I knew that I HAD to do a morning session here! The light was amazing! Seriously so glowy and clean. Well a few weeks later Anne contacted me about adding to her mini session with her daughter Morgan and I thought, well I’ll just throw it out there and see if they’d be willing. Sure enough Anne said yes and it was GAME ON! I was over the moon! We set the session up for 8am and while it was early it was SO WORTH IT! Read More »
This girl is one of my favorite people!! She joined our science team at Quioccasin my third year teaching and we became fast friends. We would laugh our way through the obscure moments, cry through the tough moments (or at least I would) and she always had starbursts for me to eat. I’ll never forget when she told me she was pregnant with Zack in the drive thru of Chick Fila as she looked at me and said “Oh yeah so.. I’m pregnant”. I SCREAMED with delight! Fast forward and she welcomes Zoe to the family making this one cute family of four.Read More »
These two are probably one of my all time favorite couples! They started dating at JMU and so when Sterling and I started dating at JMU we would all meet up on the dance floor on Friday and Saturday nights! Mike (also fondly known as Big Sexy by almost everyone) lived in the house behind Sterling’s house and we were always at either of those two places during my Grad year. Kevyn is a teacher like me and tons of fun! The two of them are the kind of friends you want to stay have in your life forever.
The two of them are genuine in every sense of the word, they are loyal, kind and warm. Kevyn has a spirit that lights up any room she’s in and a contagious laugh! Mike gives the best hugs and an equally good listener. The way they treat their friends though is nothing compared to the love they have for each other. It’s undeniable. Even just the way they look at each other from across the room, you can tell that they deeply cherish one another. It’s a love that their son is so blessed to be a part of, one that some people only dream of and others can only emulate; true, constant, big love that pushes into everything they do. To see these two as parents was amazing because it’s as if the love they have for each other just grew ten fold to include this little tiny baby boy.
Mike and Kevyn, we love you guys and feel so blessed to call you friends. I’m so glad to have gotten to take these images for you.
Ps. You may also remember them from their engagement session! Click here to walk down memory lane!
