Maddie’s Senior Portraits

— Richmond, Virginia – Softball Senior Portraits —

I have to admit I’m a bit embarrassed it’s taken me this long to get these images onto my blog – especially because they are seriously BEAUTIFUL!  Maddie was one of my students in 7th grade and now is a senior, I seriously can’t believe it!  All my students that I taught are now in high school or college and it is kind of wild to see them all grown up.  Maddie may be taller and older but she is just as kind, smart and humble as she was back in Middle School.  She is incredibly talented too!  She has committed to play softball at George Mason next year!Read More »

Best of Seniors 2018

This week is “Best of” week and I’m kicking it off with the sector of my business that meant the most to me this past year.   I’ve always loved working with seniors but this year I had the privilege of working with three seniors who were past students of mine when they were 7th graders!  While I get to work with amazing families, newborns and people who become friends, getting to work with girls that were students of mine by far tops the charts. Beat the Heat! 3 Tips for a Successful Summer Portrait Session

Summer is the BEST!  Well except for the bugs… and the insane heat… and the hair frizz?…. and the humidity…?  Let’s be honest, summer looks like an amazing time to take pictures, and it is!  You may have a little more free time, your kids aren’t in school, you can get great outdoor images with flowers and lush greens in the background, PLUS your outfits can be a little more freeing and fun!  While all this is true, there is one big downer that can turn any summer portrait session to the dirt… the heat.  More specifically, the humidity which is just killer for us in below the Mason Dixon Line.  So what can you do to have a great summer portrait session that will beat the heat and feel amazing!  Keep reading!  I’ve got three big planning tips that are necessary to survive your summer portrait session (especially if you have kids). Read More »

Trenton – Senior Portraits

I can’t believe that Trenton is a senior! I first met him 5 years ago (?) at Sterling’s family christmas party.  He is Sterling’s cousin and is one of the sweetest young men you’ll ever meet.  He is always one of the first to say hello to me and helps however he can.  He has a heart of gold and takes care of his mom and sisters in a way that will melt your heart.  He’s a good ole boy who loves everything country, specifically hunting, his truck and his dog.  He came out of the woods that morning right before these images and even cleaned his truck!

The whole time we walked around he kept offering suggestions and was willing to do just about anything – including picking up a log with a tractor and moving it across a field for me. 🙂  Needless to say Trenton is growing up to be a wonderful man who will do amazing things in his life!  Such a pleasure getting to take these and getting to have him as family.

Beth’s Senior Portraits

I tell you what, I love senior portraits!  Every time I do another senior portrait session I fall more and more in love with this niche.  My session with Beth confirmed this.  When met up in Charlottesville at Board’s Head Inn I knew she would be amazing because she was willing to jump into anything.  Seriously.  I asked her to go into overgrown brush that turned out to be quite thorny and she jumped in like a champ!  The result?  Some really gorgeous light and beautiful images!  Read More »

Senior Session with Maggie

First let me start off by saying, scroll down for a second and then scroll back up.  Isn’t Maggie GORGEOUS!!?  I mean really!   It isn’t a surprise to me how beautiful she is but what was a surprise was how grown up she is!  You see, I’ve known Maggie for her whole life, literally.  Our Mom’s are old friends and so our families used to spend a lot of time together.  Birthday parties, Christmas parties and even Creative Memory parties were spent together.  Creative Memories ps is a scrapbooking company and back in the day, we were big into scrapbooking.  In any case, as we grew up a bit I would even babysit Maggie and watched her play outside as a little goof ball.  Seeing her now all poised and grown up was a little crazy but definitely cool as this girl is going places!Read More »

Sarah’s Senior Portraits

One of the first things Sarah said to me when we met up for her senior portraits was that she was not photogenic and that she did not have good luck with school pictures.  Then we started clicking and I realized, this not photogenic business was just a dirty lie!  Right off the bat, these pictures were gorgeous and her natural relaxed face is just perfect!  Read More »

Emily – Senior Portrait Session

I’m officially loving Senior Portraits!  They are fun, spirited and a good mix of what I love about engagements and Children Portraits.  In Engagement sessions you can direct and pose and the couples will follow your lead but will bring their own spark.  In Children Portraits I love the candidness and spirit they bring to the session.  Senior portraits is the perfect blend of both.  Emily’s portrait session turned out beautifully and I couldn’t have asked for a better day. Read More »
