Brannock Party of 5! Manassas Battlefield Spring Family Session

You may remember seeing this family before on my blog, the first time being in 2015 when it was just baby Lucas! Wow has my editing style improved since then! Jacquelyn is my big from our sorority and so we’ve known each other for a long time and had a lot of goofy times together, a lot of which involved Chanello’s pizza 🙂 Well now she is a momma to not just one sweet boy like in 2015 but three! These blonde cuties are sweet like Jac and goofs like their dad Quest! We always end each session with the boys picking a pose for their own goofy solo portrait. These have ranged from big-shot baseball players, to Captain America, to cowboys, etc. Always so fun and I love that they love this little tradition. 🙂

2022 Fall Minis! Richmond, Virginia

It’s that time of year again! I feel as though it’s Christmas Eve and I’m wrapping up the final gifts from Santa for Finley to put under the tree. All the while SO excited for the next day and celebration! This is because it’s officially time for FALL MINI SIGN UPS!

Fall Minis are my absolute favorite time of year for photography because I LOVE seeing my returning families year after year and meeting new families! This year the dates will be November, 5th, 6th, 12th, and 13th with 22 sessions available.

Peter Rabbit Inspired Newborn Boy Portraits – Richmond, Virginia

This post is definitely very special to me seeing as this gorgeous new mom is a dear friend of mine! Beth and I were Alpha Phi sorority sisters at JMU back in the day and when we both moved to Richmond Virginia we lived together in the Fan! She was in Sterling and my wedding and now that we are back in Richmond, it is such a gift to get to reconnect as new moms!

2021 Mini Season Recap

Whew! My mini-season was FAST and furious!! Over the course of two weekends (plus two rescheduled dates for weather), I met with 25 families and spent 12.5 hours taking pictures for them! I culled through thousands of images to find the best for each family and spent roughly 50+ hours editing! All in all, I delivered 2,424 images (which is a little deceptive because it includes the black and white duplicates). Whew!

Pink and Green, Lilly Pulitzer Mommy and Me

Alysa is my grandlittle and for anyone who was in a sorority (or fraternity) reading this, you know what this means, but if you’ve never been in Greek life than you may not understand.  In fact, Grammarly just told tried to correct me and when I highlighted over the word it said “Unknown word” haha!  Basically, it means she’s in my sorority family and that we spent a lot of time together through college!  Lucky for me, our fun continued after college when she moved back to Richmond!  We did almost everything together!  From setting up classrooms and class materials to sewing, wine tasting, and even being a practice model for me, it was always nice to have Alysa in the same town to hang out with!  Fast forward to now and she is married and has a baby!  It’s crazy to think about how much we’ve grown since the days back at JMU.

Libby Hill Park Family Portraits

It’s crazy to think that the last time I saw the Brown family they were welcoming home Elizabeth as a brand new baby!  You may remember that session and her gorgeous floral bow! Not to mention Joseph’s camera take over and the cuteness that instilled!  This is something I especially love about the milestone package, I get to watch families grow over a year.  I can’t get over how much bigger Elizabeth is and how much older Joseph seems!  Not to mention seeing Elizabeth grow from a sleepy little infant to a baby with rolls for DAYS!  She is ADORABLE!  Joseph becomes more and more active with every session we do and it’s so fun.  At one point I turned to Lindsey and had to say “so sorry for all the screeching!” as Joseph and I played stormtroopers and I died valiantly as he shot me first.  🙂

So fun.  So so so much fun.Read More »

Charlottesville Fall Family Session

Popp Family Session

Boar’s Head Inn

–Charlottesville, Virginia —

The last time I saw Christi was soon after they got their puppy, Wallie who is a Goldendoodle so naturally, I’m in love!  We took pictures together with Christi’s whole family and this time around we got images with CJ (her husband)’s side of the family!  We planned it Charlottesville because I was going to be in town for another family session and to spend time with Sterling’s family.  The nice thing about getting back in Virginia for sessions is there are so many different spots to get images.  Charlottesville especially is simply gorgeous!Read More »

Puckette Family Portraits

Wanna know why I love working with Maggie and this sweet family?  About a year ago this time I took her newborn images and instantly felt comfortable.  Maggie is so down to earth and easy going the whole session felt like hanging out with a friend.  We got some gorgeous images that are hands down some of my favorites – especially the clean black and whites images that we got.

But then!  Flash forward a few months and I run into Maggie at Jack Browns.  It’s been months since I’ve seen them and they still say hi and talk about their newborn images! Better yet!  She emails me about making sure to get on my calendar months in advance!  AND THEN!  I meet them for our mommy and me session and Maggie says “Alex! I wanted to bring some glasses and wine so we could hang out while we did this but I just didn’t have time to get it together.” GIRL! YOU are my THE BEST!

I love working with women and families like this who are loyal and keep coming back but also who get me! It ends up feeling a lot like working with a friend than just a client and we always get GORGEOUS images.  My favorite part of childhood and family photography is getting to work with families through the years and watch the kids grow up and their family evolve! This loyalty means the world to me and makes this whole business feel x10 more personal and worth it.

For this session we met up at my favorite spot and the light was perfect!   We basically stayed in the same two spots the whole time because the light coming through the background created the most creamy bokeh!

Check out this my favorites of this amazing family of three!
